This conductor has some ego issues. He did a Bernard Herrmann cd a couple years ago, and it sounds like total shit. I was just listening to it a minute ago. If you wanna hear someone doing a fantastic conducting job of Bernard's music, listen to the track Mr. Scratch from The Devil and Daniel Webster conducted by John Williams from John's album Hollywood Music.

@cmthebicycle Actually, I didn't even mention the music itself..... I find the music to be wonderfully inspiring, and I'm aware that it has nothing to do with the conductor.... music is purely auditory, obviously. I was just stating my observations and opinions about Salonen. MTV reality show, you say? That was pretty INSULTING of you to allude to me as someone who would waste her time on mundane and unintelligent things like that.P.S, you spelled "gestures" wrong.

Dear flippingdaisyburgers , the Music is very little about facial expressions and hand jestures, it's mostly MUSIC. Try to listen it without watching, with closed eyes. It's not a TV reality show, or MTV video.Sorry.

I'm sorry, but this conductor just bothers me!!! His facial expressions, his hand movements..... he looks kind of like a bird at 5:03. I can barely even follow his conducting because his movements are so wishy washy and not sharp or even helpful at all. I feel like he's not even really showing any meter most of the time.P.S.... 4:56, fat man playing a little violin!! teehee :P |
