@TheColoradoan Ligers are not sterile, but tend to have a low sperm count, so females are more likely to reproduce than males. Ligers are somewhat like mules in that they tend to be healthy, strong offspring which are more resilient to health issues. Ligers are not large because of abnormalities like gigantism.

Are Ligers sterile like some other hybrids? If they are missing the growth-inhibiting gene, do they die early, like many pituitary giants in the human race?
